Two Items. 1) Rare British Pattern 1851 Minie Socket bayonet made for the Pattern 1851 Minie rifled musket. Very similar to the earlier Pattern 1842 socket bayonet used on the P1842 smoothbore rifle except for a two significant and measurable changes in dimensions. Very faint makers mark, Crown over 31, B. X on blade, 6 on socket. 17" blade. No scabbard. 2) French Briquet short sword. This short saber was introduced in 1767. It was instantly derided for its modest dimensions and nicknamed “Briquet” (”fire lighter”) and the name stuck and became official in 1806. No visible markings, 20 1/2" blade, brass, ribbed, D guard hilt. blade is covered with light scattered pitting, a little loose in the hilt.
