Beautiful flintlock Kentucky full stock rifle, .38 caliber, 46.5” octagon barrel signed “P. Wilson”, double set triggers, working at time of description, iron mounts and iron patchbox, lockplate marked “Field &Langstroth, Philadelphia”; original tiger striped wood full length stock. This fine piece shows classic architecture and is in overall untouched very good condition. There is an attached note to the trigger guarddated 1992, from noted expert W.B. Gusler, handwritten, stating “This rifle signed P. Wilson appears to be related to the Wilson family of Gunsmiths in Botetourt County, VA. (The patchbox) is related to Kinser, whoworked in the adjacent Craig County, VA. The engraving behind the rear sight is typical of Botetourt rifles and the filing of the rear ramrod pipe is related to signed John Wilson examples. The butt plate, stockarchitecture and barrel tang are more typical of Western Tenn. And N.C. I believe the piece represents a maker that moved Southeast from Botetourt after his apprenticing”. Shipping can take up to 6-8 weeks. Buyer pays all packing, material, handling, shipping costs and insurance. International Shipments will be sent to an exporter and buyer agrees to pay all costs incurred including all shipping costs, insurance, exporter fees and all custom & applicable duty fees.
