Bison Hunt on the Flying D Ranch, Montana 2023
Donated by Michael Opitz
The Flying D Ranch is a spectacular, 115,000-acre property located just south of Bozeman, Montana. The property operates as a working ranch managed for the production of bison and other wildlife.
Your hunt will be 1-1/2 days in length. You are welcome to bring up to 3 guests with you at no charge. We will pick you up at your hotel or meet at you at our office in Bozeman between 5:00-7:00pm the evening before your scheduled hunt day. On this evening scouting trip, we will look at the bison and the other wildlife on the ranch. We will also sight in your rifle. Early the next morning (6:00 am), we will pick you up at your hotel or meet at the office.
Once the animal is harvested, we will set it up for great pictures, field dress it and then take it to the meat processor/taxidermist. Taxidermy and processing not included. Lunch is included in your hunt. We will have a cooler with drinks available to you in the field.
The large, mature bull bison are absolutely fearless. They like to be out in the open so that they can see their surroundings. While hunting big bulls, one of two things will happen. The bull will turn and look for the hunter or turn and walk away. Watch their tail, if it is straight up they are agitated. Bison are not dumb. They are confident that they can handle any situation. This is one of the reasons we are usually able to get within a 100yds.
