3-Day Clapper Rail, Shrimping, and Spearfishing Adventure for 2 hunters & 2 observers.
Join Blue Marlin Expeditions in October 2025 for a unique and exhilarating cast-and-blast hunt that will provide nonstop action. You’ll spend the mornings shooting clapper rail on the king tide Oct 7-9. Hunters typically shoot their 15-bird limit within 2 hours of peak high tide, during which observers can enjoy a picnic and beachcombing on miles of barrier island beaches all to themselves. The speckled trout and flounder bite is usually very good on the incoming tide if observers want a more active role.
Weather permitting, afternoons will be spent diving the inshore waters of the Chesapeake Bay for tautog, rockfish, flounder, and sheepshead. Host provides all spearfishing gear needed and will show you where to look for tautog up to 10 lbs. Some snorkeling experience is helpful but not necessary. If the diving portion is blown out, your host will supplement with great hunting for archery whitetail or upland birds.
We’ll spend some time each night shrimping from the pier. At least one long shrimping session will be conducted from the boat at low-tide. Our low-tide spots have produced up to 5 pounds of small-medium shrimp and two legal flounder in a single throw of the cast net! This is also a great time to collect oysters. Seaside oysters are the best we’ve ever eaten with a saltier and more savory flavor than those in the Chesapeake Bay. So make sure to plan a big family dinner when you get back, because we ought to send each of you home with 30+ rail, 20+ lbs of fish, 20+ lbs of shrimp, and a bushel of oysters.
Hunt package includes 4 nights lodging, 3 home-cooked meals daily, drinks in moderation, guide(s), game cleaning and processing, boat charter, and all in-hunt transportation. Not included are hunting/fishing licenses (3-day combo available), federal and state duck stamps, shotguns/ammunition, destination travel to/from camp, and tips. Hunt can be upgraded to include up to 2 additional hunters, extra days, observers, etc. Package valued at $4,000.
