Extremely rare cased British South Africa, 1877-8-9 Medal to Pvt. Jason Ling. 1st Battalion, 24th Regiment of foot. South Wales Borderers. Pvt. Ling was killed in action at the camp, Isandhlwana Hill, Zululand, on January 22nd. 1879. (Documentation Included). The side of medal is stamped "1277 Pte J.Ling. 1/24 Foot."He is listed in the KIA casualties list as "Jas. Ling 1277". He was one of 727 British regulars killed that day along with 52 Officers. The battle is considered the biggest blunder in British military history. The medal comes in it's original dark blue leather box, form fittied for medal. The inside lid, embossed in gold is "By Appointment. Spink & Son Ltd. Medallists to his Majesty the King. London S.W." Medal and ribbon are fine with a nice patina, box is excellent.
