CAPTURED WWII JAPANESE TELESCOPE BY BARDON OF
PARIS, TRIPOD, BELT & WAKIZASHI BLADE. 1) A field green painted brass telescope measuring 30 3/4" in length collapsed and 36" in length extended. The telescope is signed on the inner barrel "A.BARDON PARIS". The front lens is 2 1/2" across and there are 2 supporting rings near each end. The telescope is housed in a wooden box with WWII GI capture paperwork on the front. CONDITION: telescope has a few shallow dents near the rear support ring and a few other dents in front of the first support ring. Telescope appears to function well with good optics. Box shows wear throughout. 2) A wakizashi blade with 2 narrow hi on one side and a medium & narrow hi on the other. Blade has no habaki, tsuba, seppa, or tsuka. The nakago has 2 mekugi-ana and an 8-character signature on one side with a 6-character signature on the other. The saya is wood with a silvered throat & frog stud for suspension. CONDITION: blade has a gray patina and no evidence of a temper line. Saya shows moderate wear throughout. 3) A military belt made of brown faux leather & green canvas. The 2-piece interlocking buckle is aluminum and shows a 5-petal cherry blossom on the front. Attached to the belt is a small frog of similar material. CONDITION: belt & buckle show light overall wear. 4) An iron adjustable tripod with a brass ring connector at the top. Tripod is housed in a loosely woven brown cotton case with leather cover. Tripod is contained in a cardboard box with Japanese writing on the top. CONDITION: tripod shows light to moderate wear throughout. Box shows heavy wear with the lid in two pieces.
