OFFICER’S SWORD BELT, HOLSTER & IMAGE. Cal. 44. S# 122773. Bbl. 8". This pistol, belt, holster, & tintype of Civil War officer came from same consignor, apparently may have some association. The serial range of the Colt Army could possibly be 10th Illinois Cavalry as S#s 122755-122793 have 5 S#s listed in Springfield Research S# listings. Regardless of unit affiliation, revolver was US Govt. purchase in 1863. The holster is Indian War era & the rare oval sixth plate tintype of unidentified Civil War captain are included in this grouping. CONDITION: pistol fair overall, matching external S#s on bbl., frame, cyl., backstrap & trigger guard. Bbl. address is discernable, overall dark patina w/ pitting. Nipples all replaced. Wedge & grips are replaced. Mechanically functional. Well discerned, rifled, pitted bore. Belt is good to very good overall, complete w/ both hangers & over the shoulder strap. The sewn loop that retains over the shoulder strap to belt & one hanger is unsewn, which is easily repaired. Holster is good-very good overall as is the image in its patent gutta percha case.
