COLT ARMY SPECIAL REVOLVER WITH FACTORY LETTER.
Cal. .32-20 W.C.F. S# 371788. Bbl 6". Army Special revolver manufactured by Colt in 1914. The left side of the barrel is stamped "COLT" followed by "ARMY/ SPECIAL" and the caliber designation, with Colt's 2 line address across the top. Left side of frame is stamped with the Rampant Colt logo and "VP" proof. Metal components exhibit a lustrous high polish blue finish, with the frame being mounted with 2 piece Colt checkered hard rubber grips. Matching numbers are present on the frame, cylinder crane, as well as on the interior of the left grip panel. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt factory letter indicating that this revolver was 1 of 10 shipping to T.B. Davis Arms Company in Portland, ME on September 5th, 1914. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, scattered superficial handling marks, as well as a few spots of mild surface oxidation. Grip straps retain a mostly gray patina w/ scattered spots of surface oxidation. Very bright bore, exhibiting some spots of light pitting and oxidation towards the muzzle. Grips show a few handling marks, but are otherwise very good. (23-1720/MLW). CURIO. $400-600.
