COLT NEW ARMY COMMERCIAL DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER
INSCRIBED TO FRANK MOODY. Cal. 38 Colt. S# 99429. Bbl. 6". New Army commercial double-action revolver, mfg. by Colt 1898. Left side of the bbl. is marked "COLT. D.A. 38", with Colt's mfg. information above, "PATENTED AUG.5.1884 NOV.6.88. MAR.5.95." marked across the top. Left side of the frame is marked with the encircled Rampant Colt logo. Butt is engraved "Frank Moody". Metal components exhibit a lustrous blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered hard rubber grips marked "COLT" above the Rampant Colt logo at the top of the panels. Matching assembly numbers are present on the frame, cyl. crane, and cyl. latch. Grips exhibit matching assembly numbers, which are lightly scribed on the interior of the panels. CONDITION: metal components retain fair to good amounts of their original factory finish, exhibiting wear and thinning that shows through to gray patina, as well as scattered spots of mild to moderate pitting and surface oxidation overall. Very bright bore, exhibiting consistent scattered spots of moderate pitting throughout. Grips show a few superficial marks from handling and storage but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable.
