Cal. 38 Colt. S# 10731. Bbl. 6". Early New Army / New Navy double action revolver mfg. by Colt in 1893. Top of the bbl. is marked "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT, U.S.A./ PATENTED AUG.5.1884 NOV.6.88. MAR.5.95.", with "COLT. D.A. 38" marked on the left. Left side of the frame is marked with the encircled Rampant Colt logo and "VP" proof. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, with the trigger and rear strap of the hammer exhibiting a nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece smooth Mother of Pearl grips. Half-moon blade front sight, with "U" frame notched rear sight. Matching assembly # "753" is marked on the frame, cyl. crane, as well as on the cyl. latch. Lanyard loop swivel on butt has been ground. CONDITION: metal components retain fair amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning overall that show through to gray patina, with some scattered spots of light surface oxidation and pitting. Bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots of mild pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Action functions appropriately when cycled by hand. Grips show some age related discoloration, as well as some scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (24-6970/MLW). CURIO. $300-500.
