Cal. 45 Colt. S# 94547. Bbl. 7 1/2" with "NJ" markings on the right side. Six-shot fluted cyl. Frame and bbl. have "DFC" marking of David F. Clark, the Principal Sub-Inspector of the 13,00 revolvers inspected from 1880 through 1887. Trigger guard and backstrap have inspector's initial "G". Cyl. has inspector's initial "P". Frame, bbl., grip straps, and cyl. have matching numbers. Bullseye ejector head. The one-piece walnut grips have a partially visible "DFC" cartouche on the left panel. Right panel retains an illegible partial cartouche. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: letter from Colt Industries detailing the following information: "Caliber: .45 / Barrel Length: Not listed / Finish: Blue / Type of stocks: Not listed / Sold to: U.S. Government / Delivered to: U.S. Government Inspector at Colt Plant / Date of Shipment: August 3, 1884. / Number of Same Type Guns in Shipment: 150". Also included is a letter of authentication from John A. Kopec. CONDITION: cleaned metal has a gray-brown coloration from the touch-up finish, showing scattered spots of light pitting. Refinished grips show heavy wear with dents and rounding at the butt. Action shows wear; missing its safety notch. Cyl. shows some side play. Bore has worn rifling with light pitting. (01-25616/DS).
