MODEL REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Colt. S# 112022. The iconic Single Action Army introduced in 1873 remains the most popular revolver ever. Delivery of the 7 1/2" Cavalry Model to the U.S. Ordnance Department began in September, 1873. This revolver was part of the largest group of Cavalry revolvers delivered from 1880-1887 & inspected under the supervision of Principal Sub-Inspector David F. Clark. Bbl. 7 1/2" with blade front sight. 6 Shot fluted cylinder. Blackpowder frame. Bullseye ejector head. 1 Piece walnut grips. Blue finished bbl., grip straps & trigger with case colored frame & hammer. Left side of frame is stamped "US" behind 3 line patent date marking. Bottom of frame above S# has David F. Clark's "DFC" initials. Back of cylinder has "S" inspection mark. Trigger guard & backstrap below S#"s have "G" inspection marks. Hammer slot in frame has inspector mark "I". Bottom of barrel is marked with proof mark "P" above "DFC" inspection mark. Bbl. beneath ejector housing has inspectors marks "O", "G" & "J". Bottom of ejector housing has scratched marking "83769". Bbl., frame, grip straps & cyl. have matching numbers. Right grip panel has 1884 manufacture date over "FH" Frank Heath cartouche. Bottom of left grip panel has "DFC" inspection mark. Right grip panel has "DFC" cartouche with 3 stamped markings that resemble a half moon on butt. CONDITION: exceptional all original revolver showing only light carry wear. Barrel and ejector housing retain over 90% blue. Cylinder shows 70% lightly faded blue with drag line. Grip straps retain over 80% lightly faded blue. Frame & hammer exhibit 90% lightly faded case colors. Grips show moderate edge & finish wear, most markings are clear. Action function is crisp. Lightly pitted bore retains sound rifling.
