CONFEDERATE CASED GOLD ENGRAVED ADAMS REVOLVERS
SERIAL NUMBER 40353 / 40349 BARREL 5 1/2" CALIBER 45 PERCUSSION MANUFACTURED CIRCA 1860. Cased with all their accessories. Virtually identical to serial number 41346 Adams revolver that was presented to Blockade Runner F.W Fuller. An example of these pistols is Featured on page 230 of "CONFEDERATE HANDGUNS" by William A, Albaugh. Another pair of these pistols with the same decor and embellishment was presented to Prince of Wales Albert Edward who became King Edward The VII. These profusely engraved Adams revolvers are marked on the top strap "ROBERT ADAMS 76 KING WILLIAM STREET LONDON" Mounted with checkered walnut grips and having a special but cap added with matching engraving and inset with semi-precious stones. Nitre blue finished screws, nipple, loading rammer and trigger. The revolvers have a small number 12 & 13 carved into the top left corner of each grip. Operate in the Double action the Adams was one of the most advanced revolvers of its era. Known presentations went to Prince Phillip as well as other royalty. These are cased in a piano finished presentation double case with matching embellished oiler and flask as well as the proper dual cavity mold with sprue cutter, nipple wrench and turn screw. CONDITION, Extremely fine as professionally restored and re gilded. The actions operate properly. The bores and chambers are very fine. The accessories are very good.
