SN: N75648. Imperial Russian M91 rifle captured by Austro-Hungary and later used by the Finnish Army.
Chatellerault Arsenal Mosin Nagant M91 bolt action rifle. Manufactured in 1893. Russia's early M91 output was not sufficient to meet demand, and production was supplemented through a contract with France. The Chatellerault arsenal produced approximately one-half million Mosin Nagant M91's through the years of 1892 to 1895. Due to its age, relatively low production numbers, and attrition through several war periods, the Chatellerault is one of the more difficult of arsenals to locate and add to a Mosin collection. All captured and inspected rifles were marked with 'AZF' (Artillerie Zeugs Fabrik) stamped on the top chamber flat. 32”, Cylindrical Barrel with Hexagonal Receiver, with cleaning rod. The right side of the barrel is marked with SA inside a rectangle, for Suomi Armeija (Finnish Army). Chatellerault arsenal marked barrel markings in Cyrillic Russian. (''OPYKENHBIN 3ABONB IIIATEJIBPO 1893'' ) After WW1 many of these rifles were sold to Finland who mostly modified, & parted them out, it is extremely rare to find one in it's original configuration. Rifle retains most of its blue finish, wood is sound with the usual dings/dents, action is smooth, bore is rough, but has very strong rifling. Serial number matching on bolt. No import marks observed. A rare rifle with a fantastic history. Imported by CAI, marked on barrel, very feint.
NRA Condition-Excellent as Antique Firearm.
