Colt 'Pocket Pistol', single action percussion cap 'n' ball revolver manufactured circa 1856. Features 4" octagon barrel, loading lever, 5 shot unfluted cylinder with roll stamped stage coach scene, brass bead front sight, rear sight notch on hammer nose, one piece walnut grip, silver toned back strap & round triggerguard. All observed numbers match, including the cylinder, wedge, and loading lever. Markings are crisp, sharp, with good cylinder scene. Bore appears very good, strong rifling. Barrel & frame have some blue with the cylinder & loading lever turned a gray patina. Grips are very good, has been varnished. Action is crisp, with tight lock-up. Comes in a Civil War period black leather flap holster, missing the plug, and has tear in flap, some separation on one seam. The inside of the flap is "Taken from Lieut. Col. Anderson of the 8th N.C. (Appears to be ) Troops. Period done, ink has turned brown with age. Worthy of further research. NRA Condition-Very Good. Antique firearm.
