Colt 1849 Pocket Model .31 caliber percussion with 5” barrel and cased with accessories and inscribed “Mr. G. Whiting, by Sam’L Colt, 1851”, S/N 36651 with blue and case hardened finish, varnished wood grips, 2 line New York address, 5shot, and small trigger guard. 50%-60% original blue on the barrel with traces on the cylinder and about 70%-75% scene, 30%-50% original early case colors, and 70%-80% silver on the straps. Very good plus original grips with most of theircorrect varnish. Pictured on page 231 of “Colts Pocket 49” by Jordan and Watt and a well-known and recorded presentation by Colt at the Crystal Palace Exhibition with which Whiting was associated. The case is a deluxe English oak withvelveteen lining. A near excellent flask, large cap tin, brass mold, nipple wrench and compartment cover included. The interior of the case is just good with some wear, aging, and imperfections. The exterior is very good. A significant and 100%genuine Sam’L Colt presentation that is well documented and in a prominent publication. (Antique) Est.: $12,500-$25,000
