American made short recoil semi-automatic pistol, manufactured circa 1919. Manufactured 1903-27. Designed by John Browning, blued finish, no manual safety, no grip safety, approximately 4 3/8" barrel, bore is very good/bright with some very light frosting in the grooves, blade front sight, open notch rear sight, checked low-profile hammer, smooth trigger, black hard rubber grips with "Colt" and "Rampant Colt" logo, metal 7-round "Colt" marked single stack magazine, approximately 60% of original blue remains with handling wear on the slide, & straps, scratches, some areas of light pitting on the right slide & frame, cleaned with some finish loss. The grips are very good, no chips, action is smooth. It is a compact version of the Colt Model 1902 Sporting Model pistol derived from the original Colt M1900. The .38 ACP (aka .38 Rimless, smokeless) and the .38 Super and .38 Auto use cases with identical dimensions, the only difference being the maximum operating pressures of each. It would be unwise to use new, factory .38 Super ammunition in any pistol based on the M1900 series Colts. (1900, 1902, 1903.) NRA Condition-Good. C&R Firearm.
