WWII era U.S. military contract single action semi-automatic service pistol chambered in .45 Auto, manufactured in Hartford, CT circa 1942. Features a parkerized finish, blued 5" barrel, low-profile round blade front sight, dovetailed rear sight with ‘u’ notch, knurled trigger, knurled wide hammer spur, manual safety on the left side of the frame, grip safety, push button magazine release, 7 round USGI magazine, steel frame, knurled arched mainspring housing with lanyard loop, and checkered brown nylon (non reinforced) grips. Markings: Slide - "PATENTED APR.20,1897. SEPT.9,1902/DEC.19,1905. FEB.14,1911. AUG.19,1913”, [rampant colt], “COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.," "P," "765/024," &"U." Frame - "UNITED STATES PROPERTY," "No765024," "M1911A1 U.S.ARMY", boxed "W.B.", "P", "T", "VP" inside a triangle and "88". Barrel - "COLT 45 AUTO", "P" and "G". Pistol retains approximately 95% of its original finish showing edge wear, handling marks, some mottled color on grip safety. Smaller blued parts are pristine. Action is smooth, the bore is excellent, and the synthetic grips are fine. No markings observed on magazine. Condition is near NRA Excellent. *** C&R Firearm ***
