Colt No. 3 Derringer 41 cal rim fire, blue and nickel finish, varnished wood grips showing small Rampant Colt marking on left side of frame with British proofs. The marking indicates marketing by “Von Oppen” who represented Colt in Europe during this era. The derringer is contained within a green felt lined original to the period partition style case which is too large for this Colt derringer and may be for a Knife pistol or small pepperbox. The pistol remains in near excellent condition with 85-95% original bright blue on barrel drifting on left side slightly with a couple of minor closing marks at breech and just beginning light age. The frame shows 98-99% original nickel that is unpolished and in its natural state. The hammer shows 90% case hardening, the small parts and screws show most of their original fire blue. The markings are sharp, the edges crisp, bore bright. The grips are near fine with 90% varnish, slight loss at the edges and tiny scratches. The case is in good condition missing its key plate with 2 cleaning rods.
