Colt SAA revolver, engraved, .45 caliber, 4.75” barrel, nickel finish, later raised carved pearl grips, S/N 105790, in overall very good condition as period engraved outside the factory; crisp action, goodmarkings, good bore, beautiful scroll engraving, lovely iridescent pearl grips with raised carving of a steer’s head on the right grip showing an old chip at the bottom front corner; also a marked “E” on the bottom of the backstrap. Accompanied by a factory letter confirming caliber and barrel length with finish noted as “Soft” and type of stocks “Rubber”; shipped to Hartley & Graham in New York City on January 15, 1884, 25 guns in shipment and under remarks noting the word “soft” indicates the frame and gate were not case hardened when shipped for engraving outside the factory.
