44-40 caliber, 3& #34; barrel, SN SA38993, The left side of the barrel marked & #34;Colt Sheriff& #39;s Model& #34;. Left side of the frame below the cylinder marked with two line patent dates. Right side of the barrel marked & #34;Colt SAA 44-40& #34;.
Beautifully engraved Sheiff& #39;s Model with large and small scrolls with cross hatching background. Gold inlay was used to highlight and enhance the elegant and smooth lines of the revolver. Cylinder pin, blackstrap and triggerguard with bright gold plating. The rest of the revolver finished with a high polished blue. Custom made Ivory grips enhancing the gold plating and inlaid borders. This is an early 1980 Sheriffs model.
Overall the revolver appears to be like new. Retaining all the high polished bluing and gold plating. Grips are excellent. A great example of an high art custom engraved Colt Sheriff Model by nationally known and recognized gun engraving and arms decorator.
