Colt Single Action Army .45 LC SN: 6107
Mismatched, refinished Colt Single-Action Army, frame is numbered 6107, manufactured -in 1874. Colts used by Col. G. A. Custer's 7th Cavalry at the Battle of the Little Bighorn. The number range of possible Little Bighorn Colts is 4500–7527. 7.5" barrel, left frame is stamped "U.S.". Has a nickel refinish which has covered markings, or made them faint. First line of patent dates is gone, barrel address & caliber are faint, the trigger guard is numbered 3060 (faint), backstrap is unnumbered, correct 'bullseye' ejector rod head, the one-line Hartford address in block letters is wrong for a early SAA, number on the loading gate appears to be '615'. cylinder pin is incorrect, someone has stamped "111" on the right frame, and "11" is stamped on the cylinder. (?)The one piece grips have been checkered, and the underside of the panels are stamped R.A.C. Rinaldo A. Carr. Carr was an inspector at Colt who worked in the 1890s. Action is crisp, refinish is very good with no flaking, bore is very good, grips are good with a couple of small chips. Comes in a nice display case with inletted wood base, with plexiglass cover.
