Restored/Rebarreled. Antique1st Generation SAA manufactured 1883. Has a early 1950's Colt factory replacement 5 1/2" barrel with front blade and v-notch rear sights. Right side of barrel stamped "COLT'S MFG. CO HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." in one line block letters. The left barrel is stamped "Colt Single Army .45". Three-line black powder patent dates are on the left frame, along with "45 Cal. on the left triggerguard. The serial number matches on the frame, triggerguard, and backstrap, assembly number '238' on the loading gate, "A.R." is stamped on the heel below the serial number. Frame markings, & serial numbers are crisp/clear. The stag grips are later replacements. Bore is very good/bright with strong rifling. Action is crisp, and hammer locks up tight. The replaced grips are excellent. Reblued finish is overall very good, with minor muzzle wear, tracking, edge wear on the cylinder, holster wear on the ejector rod housing and handling wear with some finish loss on the straps. Case colored frame is very good, minor scratches. Comes in a very nice glass top wood display case with lid, form fitted blue felt, brass plaque on lid with "M.E. Dixon". There is also a Colt 1974 dated factory letter to B.V. Dixon stating the revolver was one of twelve shipped to J.P. Moore NYC on March 20th, 1883. The consigner states the restoration was done by Colt.
