This 7 day British Columbia Cougar hunt is offered in cooperation between the Eastern Chapter Wild Sheep Foundation and the Wild Sheep Society of BC (WSSoBC) to raise money to support the Bull River Bighorn heard in the East Kootenays of BC. The heard is down from 130 in 2012 to 48 in 2018, largely due to overgrazing by domestic species. Funds from this auction will help to subsidize the cost of a controlled burn to reestablish the grazing lands for this heard. There are an abundance of cougars in the Kootenays of BC and opportunity is very high with the use of baying hounds and winter tracks identifying big cats to hunt. Accommodations include rustic cabin style bunkhouse at two base camps and three spike camp locations. Base camp includes a cookhouse and propane fired showers.
