.45-70 caliber, 28" octagonal barrel, S/N 221244. Blued barrel with case-hardened breech, finely engraved lockplate, and customised hammer. Fine walnut stock with diamond-point checkered forend and pistol grip, along with a carved cheekpiece. Ebony tip stock, engraved metal pistol grip cap, Engraved buttplate. Blade front sight fitted with folding white-dot highlight, "two-fold and stand" express sights graduated in 100, 200, and 300 ranges. Detailed attractive engraving including muzzle, breechblock, lockplate, hammer, and triggerguard with finials and finely engraved with tiny Belgian scrolls. Screw heads fire-blued with rosette engraving, case-hardened grip cap engraved en suite. Top of barrel finely matted with one-line "LOWELL MANLEY SHOOTING SUPPLIES 3684 PINE STREET DECKERVILLE MICHIGAN" address just forward of rear sights with "ENGRAVED BY C. LEE" to the rear. Breechblock marked "US/MODEL/1884". **Very fine condition overall. Only minor handling blemishes, with some nearly un-noticeable spots of oxidation on breech block. Stock is fine with a bright bore. Rear buttplate screw is somewhat poorly set. A well-made and engraved sporting rifle for the discerning collector or sportsman.** $4,000-$6,000
