DAINTY 410 BOXLOCK GAMEGUN BY ALFRED DAVIS.

Cal. 410 2 1/2". S# 3015. This nicely appointed little gun has 26" dovetailed bbls. engraved "Alfred Davis 4 Bishop's Churchyard. Old Broad St. London. EC2" on narrow swamped game rib with scroll engraving at breech end. Bbl. flats are stamped with London Nitro proofs for 2 1/2" chambers and 7/16 oz. shot. Small size boxlock action with automatic safety ("SAFE" inlaid in gold) and double triggers is nicely engraved with about 80% coverage varying size scroll within geometric borders. Each side of action is engraved "Alfred Davis" "From J. Blanch & Son" "London". Blued top lever, floor plate & trigger guard are engraved with matching scroll. Serial number is on trigger guard tang. Straight grip buttstock of very attractive, nicely marbled & lightly figured flesh tone European walnut measures 13 5/8" over serrated wood butt. Point pattern checkering is at grip and a vacant silver oval is on toeline. Matching splinter forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter at muzzles: R .405" (IC), L .397" (MOD). STOCK: DAH: 2 1/4". DAC: 1 7/16". LOP: 13 5/8". CAST: approx. 1/2" off. WEIGHT: 4 lb. 3 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun comes with small brown canvas covered case with leather trim, probably original. Interior is lined in green cloth. CONDITION: fine. Bbls. retaining about 70% of what appears to be original blue, thining from normal handling with some scratches and a few dark spots. Action appears to have been cleaned to coin finish. Top lever, floor plate & trigger guard retain over 70% of what appears to be their original blue, but is possibly an old sympathetic reblue. Stocks retain most of what appears to be their original finish with some light marks and quite a few deeper on right side of butt. Checkering is lightly worn. Bores are bright and shiny, however there are some scattered heavy pitting toward breech ends of both bbls. There are marks toward muzzles resulting from opening of chokes. Mechanically good. Case shows considerable soiling, marks and rubs. Handle is good, interior cloth also soiled with some discoloration. (22-4474). MODERN. $4,000-7,500.
