"BLACK WIDOW" P.08 LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH ACCESSORIES. Cal. 9x19mm Parabellum. S# 1617y. Bbl. 4". P.08 Luger, mfg. by Mauser in 1941. The bbl. extension is marked with the 2-digit year of mfg. "41" over the chamber, with Mauser Eagle/655 acceptance proofs marked on the right. Toggle is marked with Mauser's "byf" mfg. code. Left side of the frame is marked "P.08". Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered black plastic grips. Blade front sight, with V-notch rear sight. All serialized components are matching. MAGS: two 8-rd. with black plastic bottom. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original black pig skin leather holster marked "bdq.41" on the rear, with a reproduction belt and buckle. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original factory salt blue finish, exhibiting scattered spots of wear and thinning, some superficial handling marks, as well as some scattered spots of surface oxidation overall. Grip straps retain fair amounts of their original blue, with the balance exhibiting thinning and wear through to gray and brown patinas. Very bright bore, exhibiting pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing, as well as some scattered marks and nicks to the diamonds, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting mild wear, with some age-related cracking and crazing present overall. PROVENANCE: from the lifelong collection of Jim Williams. (24-2695/MLW).
