DESIRABLE MODEL 1900 SWISS ARMY LUGER, SN 2245,
W/ MILITARY HOLSTER & STRAP. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 2245. This is very fine example of a later Model 1900 Swiss Army Luger, 1st series, third variation, with the relieved frame and late, fluted thumb safety. As per all the Swiss M1900 Lugers, major parts are rust blued with strawed or fire blued small parts. The chamber area is roll marked with the Swiss Cross in Sunburst and the DWM monogram is on the toggle. Early features include the 4.75" fast taper barrel, dished toggles with toggle lock, flat breech bolt, flat straw-colored extractor spring, narrow trigger and flat recoil springs in the frame. As a mid-production M1900, it has a third pattern thumb lever with the smaller, serrated head and the wider pattern grip safety. It has small Swiss Cross acceptance proof on the side of the barrel with the slightly larger Swiss Army proofs on the barrel extension, rear of the frame and top of the toggle area. The left side of the barrel extension is stamped with the Geneva Cross/V for the Swiss inspector Herr Vogelsang. Standard checkered walnut grips. Disassembly shows all matching numbers. MAGS: one correct Swiss military with tin plated magazine body, thicker follower button and an unnumbered wooden base with the small metallic discs on each side. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather holster and strap, inner flap inked with previous ownership, stamped "L. G. WALTHER/SATTLER BERN/ 03" on the obverse surface. The medium brown holster is in very fine condition with some age cracking on top of the flap, clear, distinct markings and intact stitching. The lower toe shows some slight crushing of the leather. CONDITION: very fine with 95% of the original blue finish with edge and high spot wear. Usual blue loss on the tips of the frame rails, edges of the sideplate hump, and thinning on the front and rear grip straps and lower front toe. Front strap has light peppery oxidation & backstrap has mottled appearance. The smaller parts retain 50% of their straw colors. Discreetly import marked using a fine laser etching method in an unobtrusive area. The grips are near excellent with nice, distinct checkering showing light wear across the tops of the diamonds mixed with some handling marks. A slightly heavier pressure dent is on the right grip behind the magazine release button. It hand cycles correctly and has an excellent bore. Overall, a very attractive, mid-production M1900 Swiss military Luger with correctly dated holster! PROVENANCE: From the esteemed collection of Paul Regnier, Switzerland. (20-1416/LA). CURIO. $3,000-5,000.
