DESIREABLE US WWII REMINGTON MODEL 1903-A4 BOLT
ACTION SNIPER RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S#3414681. Bbl. 24". Marked behind front sight mounting slots "RA / flaming bomb / 6-43". This interesting rifle was given an arsenal overhaul as evidenced by the "X ing out of the "3" on the receiver markings with a "4" suffix added. The metal was re-Parkerized accounting for the difference in finish wear between wood and metal. There is no evidence of a front sight being fitted. The one piece base with the correct rear bevel is marked "REDFIELD" on the right rear. The front of the base has three steel shims. The 330 Weaver scope with 3/4" blued steel tube has a crosshair reticle and flat top adjustment knobs. The scope is marked near the knobs "MODEL 330 / PATS. PEND. / W.R. WEAVER CO. / EL PASO T.X. U.S.A.". It is marked faintly in electro-pencil on the right rear "TELESCOPE M73B1 / SERIAL NO. 6790". The rings are Parkerized steel. Correct Remington bolt assembly with clearance for scope. All stamped furniture including fine checkered trap buttplate and small bow trigger guard. Scant grip walnut stock set marked "K" in cutoff recess. The stock has the correct cut out for the bolt handle. Marked on the left side "RA / crossed cannons / FJA". Encircled "P" proof under grip. Assembly marks are prominent ahead of trigger guard. Brown Leather sling marked "BOYT 42". CONDITION: stock set has light wear and handling marks and has had a light coat of added finish at an early date. The metal retains most of its arsenal rework finish with light high point wear. The scope has 90% of its original blue with scattered small spots of oxidation. Optics appear slightly cloudy but serviceable. Near excellent shiny two groove bore. (24-4764/RW). CURIO. $3,250-$4,500.
