Example of a rare 1908 Variation Imperial Navy DWM Luger from the pre-WWI era. There were only an estimated 8,500 of this variation produced, it is unit marked to the 2nd Torpedo Division "II.T.D", along with weapon number "2570" on the back strap. The 2nd Torpedo Division was based at the North Sea Naval Station in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. It's purpose was to train torpedo boat crews and other crews in the practice of torpedo warfare. This is a very desirable unit mark. 6" barrel. Marked with the crown over M navy proofs, two position 100-200 meter Navy sight, all matching serial numbers including the grips, "gesichert" marked safety, cut for shoulder stock, lanyard stable. The magazine that accompanies this pistol is an original Navy version that has the nickel-plated body with the wooden bases that has the concentric circles on the ends. The base is marked with a single "Crown/M" Navy proof and numbered "6619" and the magazine itself is stamped "2595". Bore is overall good/bright, light frosting in the grooves, toggle action is smooth, grips are very good, some handling wear, blue is about 75% with handling/edge wear, the right barrel has some patina with finish loss. No straw remaining.
