MOUNT WITH SCOPE & ACCESSORIES. Cal. 8mm. S# 49375. Bbl 30". This MG08 Maxim was mfg. by D.W.M. in Berlin in 1918. Items that correspond matching the original S# in some variation of 49375, including parts as they get smaller dropping numbers off to become shorter & fit the space including 49375, 9375, 375 & 75 consist of left side plate, top cover, bbl. jacket, sights, feed block, cocking lever, trigger safety, & possibly others that are less clearly visible. Oil caps on spade grips are matching numbers, and thread off & on easily, retained by both present retention springs. Bolt marked 8904 to match the linkage which also carries the 75 indicating that it was original. Original sled mount. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Spare barrel, ZF12 Optics w/ original leather case, cartridge case tongs, 2 chamber clearing tools, & muzzle booster. CONDITION:
This is a beautiful example of the classic original belt-fed that started an entirely new generation of firepower. The finish is strong, consisting of bluing on sideplates & top cover, and painted barrel jacket. Everything moves fluidly and is extremely smooth. The spade grips are seldom encountered in this condition for a working firearm. The oil caps are matching in numbers, and thread in and out effortlessly. The hardwood grips still retain their finger grooves and even the checkering is intact and in nice condition. They have only a few impressions. The ZF12 optics appear to have the original finish on them, w/ all markings clear and intact. Bullet drop compensator is adjustable from 400m to 2400m & moves fluidly. The glass is quite clear w/ tight reticle. Sled mount still has several of the original spare parts boxes, which are often missing. These hold extra locks, spare parts & tools. Currently holding a spare chamber clearing tool. A small portion of the thin steel plating has succumb to the elements but it is remarkably complete, missing only the leather pads and straps. It has been painted several coats and shades of green & black paint. The screw drive elevation adjustment moves freely & it enjoys full adjustment. Gun slides freely on mount for traverse adjustment. The aluminum top mounting strap functions perfectly to retain a positive grip. Forward water drain below bbl. jacket functions smoothly though the cork portion has succumb to the elements. Firing mechanism functions smoothly in all aspects. Bore is clean w/ strong rifling. (03-1554/JZ). THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT CURIO & RELIC REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE. $15,000-18,000.
