Desert Bighorn Ram World Record Bronze, 1 of 1
Desert Bighorn Ram World Record Bronze – for Auction at the 2020 ADBSS Fundraiser

This spectacular bronze was created using a set of horns cast from the World Record desert bighorn ram, which was found by Carl Scrivens in Northern Baja Mexico in 1942. In the mid 1980s, Jim Gay, a shirttail relation of Carl’s, enlisted the art department of Central Wyoming College to cast one set of the horns in bronze.

Sometime after Jim’s passing, Kathy Gay, Jim’s widow contacted the Society about using the horns in some fashion to raise funds for Society projects and desert bighorn conservation efforts. In 2017, ADBSS began working with Skurja Art Castings in Arizona to put this life sized bronze together. After casting the skull, the horns were painstakingly matched to the skull, an artful base was created and this beautiful piece was finished. The magnificent sculpture was completed late in 2019.

This one-of-a-kind bronze, weighing in at almost 100 lbs., and will never be duplicated or be part of any set or edition. It is the perfect piece of art to grace the discerning purchaser’s home or office. Help the Society continue to put sheep on the Arizona mountains.
