EARLY 19th CENTURY MIDDLE EASTERN CAMEL GUN &
BIPOD. Cal. 60. NSN. Bbl. 41 1/2". Octagon barrel flared at the muzzle with a small copper blade sight. 8 Small brass bands attach the barrel to the stock. The touch hole appears to possibly be re-bushed. The lock is a good fit but may not be original to the musket. There is the remains of a British East India Company lion just in front of the cock. Iron trigger guard, sling swivels & attached bipod. The buttcap appears to be carved bone with a small copper repair at the top left. The classic Middle Eastern stock has significant wear at the wrist with missing wire inlays. There are several sheet brass repairs to the barrel channel. Iron ramrod. Bipod is obviously a later addition but appears to have been there for a century. CONDITION: barrel has a dark, mottled patina as does the lock. Lock is tight but hold both full & half cock. Other metal parts have a similar dark oxidized patina. The stock has numerous small chips & cracks with losses & repairs at the barrel channel. Poor bore. (01-23564/BF). $400-600.
