ORIGINAL? CASE. Cal. 10 Ga. S# 517. Bbls. 30" broad two stripe damascus engraved "CHARLES DALY Damascus Barrels" on broad concave game rib w/ doll's head extension. Bbl. flats stamped w/ S#. Robust top lever action fitted w/ front spring rebounding locks, w/ nicely filed serpentine hammers. Action engraved w/ sprays of scroll w/in line borders. This treatment is also on lockplates w/ game scenes at tails, a pair of grouse ? are feeding on left lock & 2 snipe ? are on right. "Charles Daly" is at the front of each lock. Very finely marbled, flesh toned, European walnut rnd. knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14" over steel buttplate. Point pattern checkering is at grip & a vacant silver oval is on toeline. 3 Gemstones, (topaz?, 2 are blue tone & 1 yellow toned) are added to top of grip. Matching splinter forend w/ schnabeled horn tip is near fully checkered & has Deeley release. MEASUREMENTS: BARRELS: bore diameter: right .758", left .765". Restriction: right .020" (Mod.), left .022" (Mod.). Min. Wall Thickness: right .045", left .050". STOCKS: LOP: 14". DAC: 1 13/16". DAH: 2 15/16". No cast. WEIGHT: 9 lbs., 14 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is housed in a leather covered wooden case. Interior bottom is lined in lime green velvet & is French fitted to gun. Pad lid is lined in scarlet silk ? CONDITION: good. Bbl. retaining perhaps 40-50% original damascus finish. Right bbl. exhibits scattered spots of oxidation on exterior. Action w/ traces of case hardening color where protected. Stock has old oil refinish w/ numerous light marks & scratches. Checkering considerably worn. Bores are good to very good shiny w/ considerable pitting. Action is tight. Lock is good. Exterior of case has many knocks & scratches through old lacquer finish. Handle is missing. Interior cloth has many marks & rubs & some insect damage mostly to silk, which is fraying.
