Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 9916b. Bbl. 23". Blade front sight with Czech style protective ears. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000m. Early VZ-24-style rifle, made under German occupation. Matching numbers on bolt handle and stock. Other visible parts are unnumbered as-is correct for this model. Receiver top marked "dou 41," denoting mfg. by Waffenwerke Brunn II in 1941. Receiver markings and bolt number have white highlight paint. Blued finish. Walnut stock set with left side sling swivels and K98k style sling. Right side of butt has strong "(Eagle)/H" Heer marking and two "(Eagle)/WaA607" markings. Cleaning rod present. CONDITION: stock set retains a high degree of arsenal-type oil finish with a 4" crack on the front of the handguard, a couple moderate gouges, scattered dings, scratches, and handling marks. Metal retains 70% original blue with some light band removal dings, scattered fading to brown, and some light oxidation. Action functions properly when hand-cycled. Very good bore with some frosting and light pitting but strong rifling. PROVENANCE: from the collection of Mark Ivey Godfrey. (24-5222/MJC). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
