MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 15902. This rifle was originally made as a "gas trap" model between June 1938 and September 1939. The receiver has the internal guide ribs which were modified at the armory by welding and grinding to cure the "7th round stoppage. 24" barrel marked on the right side "S-A-11-41" The throat gauges 5.0. Muzzle gauges 11.0. T105E1 aperture rear sight. Blade front sight with protective ears. The bolt is of early manufacture marked "D 28287-1" and "J3B". NM operating rod marked "RA". Single slot gas cylinder lock screw. Small pad trigger housing marked "D 28290". Early trigger guard with grasping rings "C 46025" Hammer and safety marked only with drawing numbers. Walnut stock set. Buttstock marked only with faint encircled "P" proof under grip Rear handguard is very proud of front of receiver. Brown leather military style sling. UNNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 15 3/4" fullered blade model 1942 bayonet. Marked on left ricasso "UC / US flaming bomb / 1942". Grooved composite grips. Green plastic scabbard with metal throat marked "US flaming bomb". Bayonet and scabbard have light wear and thinning finish. Also included: cleaning kit w/ handle, Plastic oiler and grease container. CONDITION: Stock set has an arsenal rework finish with light wear and handling marks. The toe has a moderate loss of wood. Metal retains app. 75% original Parkerized finish. Receiver markings enhanced in white. The action components show very light wear and the small welds show slight heat discoloration. Bore is turning dark with very fine pitting and worn lands.
