EARLY RUGER FLAT GATE OLD MODEL SINGLE SIX
REVOLVER. Cal. 22 LR. S# 1064. Bbl. 5 1/2" with very early (S#1 to S#1895) front sight blade that is NOT serrated on its face. Mfg. 1954 (1953-1973) with most correct characteristics of Type I: short throw steel ejector rod housing, XR3 alloy grip frame, lack of hyphen in "SINGLE SIX" frame marking, flat loading gate with thumbnail cut out, capped base pin latch, wide bands on base pin, non serrated front sight blade, frame mounted fixed rear sight, thin trigger, black hard rubber grips having black eagle medallions plus copper toning along top strap plus recoil shield from too much silica in steel mix when cast (common on earliest examples). Ejector rod head is later style being round with dimpled face (replacement or shipped somewhat later than when frame was made). Has not had factory safety update. Very early collectable Ruger. CONDITION: good general appearance with notable signs of use. Grip frame is all light grey in tone. Steel components have high point wear (especially left side of barrel at muzzle and on ejector rod housing). Good grips with hand wear; no damage. Near excellent bore. (23-1523/NW). CURIO. $400-600.
