MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 5891644. Rifle produced in April1942. Bbl. 24" marked inverted on right side " S-A-4-42". Throat gauges 1.0. Muzzle gauges 3.0. Locking bar aperture rear sight with "Battle Range" elevation knob. Blade front sight with protective ears. All major parts markings are "SA". Short fork follower rod. Single slot gas cylinder lock screw. Milled trigger guard. Walnut stock set. Marked on left side with boxed "S.A. E.McF" and "crossed cannons". Encircled "P" proof under grip. Model 1907 leather sling marked "BOYT 44". UNNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: cleaning kit, grease container and Nickel plated oiler in butt. CONDITION: stock set has been Given a professional cleaning rendering the markings faint but has a nice overall appearance with light wear and scattered handling marks. Metal retains 80% of its original Parkerized finish with light wear. Very good shiny bore with sharp lands. PROVENANCE: from the collection of Mark Ivey Godfrey. (24-5255/RW). CURIO. $1000-1500.
