SYKES PRESENTATION COMMANDO FIGHTING KNIFE, LT. COL. HARLAN MILLER. 11 5/8” overall, 6 5/8” double edged dagger blade etched in riband “LIEUT. COL. HARLAN MILLER, US ARMY / 0-269848 DES MOINES, IOWA” and "Wilkinson Sword, London" trademark. Opposite ricasso “THE / F-S / FIGHTING / KNIFE.”. 2” oval steel cross guard, checkered blackened brass grip, original brown leather sheath with blackened brass tip. Accompanying this knife are three photographs of Miller in World War One and World War Two along with 1983 note from his daughter stating provenance. CONDITION: extremely fine overall, blade retains virtually all its original polish & luster. Most all original black finish found on metal parts with some brass showing through at pommel. Sheath is correct 1st type & matching excellent condition with exception of cloth tab which is frayed and lost its elasticity. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox.
