EXTREMELY SCARCE UNISSUED SPRINGFIELD M1 GARAND

WWII MILITARY SEMI-AUTO RIFLE W/ WWII PRODUCTION BAYONET. Cal. 30-06. Ser. #2110690. Bbl. is 24" marked on right side "1-S-A-10-43". Throat gauges 2.0. Muzzle gauges 3.0. Adjustable aperture rear sight w/ battle range elevation knob & locking bar windage knob. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. All visible parts markings are ”SA”. S# & bbl. date indicate mfg. in late 1943. This rifle is unusual as it retains its original parts, crisp markings, and a very high degree of original finish on both wood & metal. It appears to be unissued, however, the bore condition indicates a moderate amount of very careful use. Single slot gas cyl. lock screw. Milled trigger guard. Matching walnut stock set. Buttstock is marked on left side w/ boxed “S.A.” & “G.A.W.” & “crossed cannons”. Circle “P” proof under grip. “3” in bbl. channel. Trap buttplate. Correct 1907 leather sling marked “MILSCO 1943”. Sling has moderate wear & flexing. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: copy of inventory sheet by the late M1 Garand authority Scott Duff. This sheet notes that the rifle is featured in his book "The M1 Garand WWII" on page 230 & on page 243 in the photo section. A signed copy of this book in very nice condition is included in the lot. Slotted combination tool. Plastic oiler w/ thong & bore brush. Plastic grease cup. Model 1942 bayonet w/ 15-3/4" fullered blade. Blade marked on left Ricasso w/ “U.F.H.” “flaming bomb” “U.S.” & “1943”. Ribbed brown plastic grips. U.S. marked correct green plastic scabbard. Bayonet retains lg. degree of dark Parkerized finish. Grips have very light wear. Scabbard shows wear & handling marks. Steel throat is turning patina. CONDITION: original finish stock set has tiny handling marks. Metal has nearly all its Parkerized finish w/ very light high point wear. Gas cyl. has 90% of its original black finish. Bore has very lightly worn lands. (22-4206/RW) CURIO. $3,000-5,000.
