US military Mauser type bolt action rifle manufactured for use in WWI by the Eddystone division of Remington, imported back into the US by CAI, St Albans VT. Often referred to as "Enfield", due to British Enfield type rifling. Reblued, stock sanded. Features 26" barrel, post front (appears a later replacement with roll pin insert as front post) and peep rear ladder sights both protected by steel guards, manual safety, 6 round magazine, wood handguard & stock with grasping grooves, trap door in butt, sling swivels, stacking swivel has been removed. Bore is good or better condition, a bit gray toned, strong rifling. Retains 80% re-finish, with edge losses. Some erosion to metal visible under the new bluing. Metal fit to wood is very good, some gapping around butt plate. Retains US Army Ordnance "bomb" marks on "6-18" dated barrel, on bolt, side of receiver. "974062" stamped on bolt stem. Wood is good to very good, dark color in retained dents, grasping groove edge rounded, right side of butt stamped "ME / 239 / (broad arrows in circles" Condition is NRA Very Good as refinished *** C&R Firearm ***
