US military Mauser pattern bolt action rifle manufactured for use in WWI by the Eddystone division of Remington. Often referred to as "Enfield", due to British Enfield type rifling. blued finish. Features 26" barrel, blade front and peep rear ladder sights both protected by steel guards, manual safety, 6 round magazine, wood handguard & stock with grasping grooves, trap door in butt, sling swivels, stacking swivel. Bore is very good condition. Retains 80% finish, with handling wear on the bolt knob, friction wear on the bolt, and edge wear.. Wood is very good with eagle head cartouiche on the under side of the fore stock. Metal fit to wood is very good. Retains US Army Ordnance "bomb" mark, eagle head proofs, mismatched bolt. Barrel dated "4-18". This rifle was re-imported back to the U.S. by CDI (Underside of barrel, and has the correct red band on the fore tip, marked "30-06". This was to warn British soldiers during WW1 of the caliber, but there are no British proofs, or markings on the gun. Possible re-build? Comes with newer M1907 sling.
