SN: 21793.Very rare & desirable pre-war 1936 Erma Werke made S/27 1936 coded Mauser K98k Rifle that was surrendered in Norway at the end of the war. After the war, Norway converted and rebuilt these rifles to 30-06 caliber, which involved re-barreling, a modification of the receiver to take the length of the 30-06 cartridge and a oval cut in the chamber to allow the 30-06 stripper clip. Unlike most of these rifles this still is a German mostly matching rifle, including the bolt. These rifles were converted post war (1953-54) from the German 8×57 service round to the US 30-06 and the reason for this was to adapt a uniform caliber conforming to US military specifications, since Norway was gifted large stocks of surplus military aid from the U.S. This rifle is marked to the Norwegian Army, 'Haer' on left chamber flat. These rifles were released by Norway in the 1980’s and 90’s and some were imported to the US, Century Arms imported this one, with feint importer marks on the left barrel. The original German serial number is matched on the receiver, floorplate, triggerguard, butt plate, bolt shroud, safety latch, stock, screws, and barrel bands, rear sight base mismatched. pre-war waffenamts on metal, and stock. The Norwegian serial number is matched on the chamber, buttplate, and bolt. The bore is excellent/bright, wood is very good/sound, the action works well, and the finish is about 98% with minor edge wear.
NRA Condition-Very Good. C&R firarm.
