Exceptional Remington No. 6 Falling Block Rifle In Original Box
serial #457160, 32 RF, 20'' round barrel with a bright excellent, perhaps even unfired, bore. This lovely rifle comes in its original factory box, with end label that matches the configuration precisely. The barrel retains about 97-98% original blue, with loss due to some even fading with extremely light wear at the muzzle and breech. The frame retains 98-99% original vivid color case-hardening, as-does the pivoting breech block. The hammer retains darker case-hardened color while the trigger shows all its original gray-blue. The smooth walnut buttstock and scant forend rate excellent with all of their original varnish, showing a handful of minor handling marks here and there. The circled ''Remington UMC'' trademark buttplate retains nearly all its original blue showing only light wear at the heel and toe. The red two piece boxed rates very fine. The bottom shows a couple very light scuffs to the paper covering, with a couple of wear marks and scuffs on the interior but remains very solid. The lid is similar showing perhaps a bit more scuffing and wear along the edges with a fine condition printed label in black ink on buff colored paper, along with a bit of antique ink pen writing along its left edge. The interior has the factory ''Instructions for No. 6 Remington Rifle'' label centered on the lid and is mostly present with about 3'' piece missing from the lower left corner. The underside of the box is pencil marked ''gap / 3.25''. A beautiful investment-grade No. 6 falling block which appears to have seen very little if any use since leaving Ilion.
