TINO SERVING IN THE ALEUTIANS & THE BATTLE OF KISKA. This lot includes a large photo album showing the service of Lt. Tino in the Aleutian Islands and, most notably, at the Battle of Kiska. Tino served in the 2nd Battalion, 53rd Infantry Regiment. Photographs show scores of American soldiers in arctic attire, standing in gorgeous arctic landscapes. Oddly, there are several pictures of soldiers with their large salmon catch. Several bears are shown that have succumbed to American marksmanship. There are photos of captured Japanese men and weapons, as well as photos of departed Japanese soldiers. There are photos of ships, military buildings, native Aleutian people, and artistic shots of mountains. The lot further includes two small books titled "The Battle of the Aleutians…", a book titled "Pictorial Report The Infantry Conference", and a VFW magazine from 1968. Medals included in the group include four American Defense Medals in boxes, three American Campaign Medals in boxes, two WWII Victory Medals in boxes, four Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medals in boxes, one EAME Campaign Medal in its box, and one cased State of New York Conspicuous Service Cross in its original box. Finally, the lot includes an EGA cap badge, a pinback cap eagle, and two collar insignia. CONDITION: Photo album shows light wear, and the individual photographs remain sharp and clear. Medals appear unissued, but boxes show storage wear. Other items show light wear. (02-23672/BF). $200-400.
