Cal. 22 LR. S# 1540. Bbl. 7 1/2" with dovetailed Patridge sight; unique Fiala rear sight on matching numbered slide having square notch that flips up to aperture sight. Mfg. 1920 in New Haven, CT by Fiala Arms and Equipment Company and so marked on right rear of frame. Model designation on right front of frame by large head screw used to secure interchangeable barrels; 3", 7 1/2", 20" rifled and 20" smoothbore. Backstrap with provision to screw attach optional buttstock; early ones were slotted for attachment. Plain walnut grips with brass screw escutcheons; some vertically grooved. Founded 1920 and soon went bankrupt; Fiala Outfitters of NYC bought parts and unfinished pistols which they completed and sold from 1922 to about 1930. Has appearance of High Standard Model B. Numerous makings to include Polar bear logo on left front of frame. Button on left side releases slide for manual functioning having adjacent safety lever that locks slide closed when on safe. Serial number generally runs from 1 to 5566; marked on frontstrap like High Standard. MAGS: factory 2 tone 10 rd. with machined cast bronze follower; spotty body finish.. CONDITION: good general appearance with minimal original finish and appearance of added touch up bluing. Cleaned light pitting on portions of barrel. Good grips with light marks, finish loss and hand wear. All markings clear. Near excellent bore. (23-1490/NW). CURIO. $300-450.
