PARKER DH SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 5/8". S# 127341. Bbl. 30". Blued bbls. are marked w/ Parker address & "TITANIC STEEL" on standard, concave matted rib fitted w/ 2 ivory beads. All correct markings are on bbl. flats & lumps including frame size “2”. Action correctly marked on water table & features automatic safety as well as nickel plated dbl. triggers. Action engraved in usual “D” style w/ varying size scroll w/ in line & geometric borders surrounding single dogs on sides; pointer on left, setter on right. “PARKER BROS.” is on scrolled band on rear of each side. Trigger plate engraved w/ scene of 4 flying grouse. Parker capped pistol grip buttstock of lightly figured & veined European walnut measures 14 1/4" over skeleton steel buttplate. Stock features usual lozenge shape drop points & point pattern checkering. Matching splinter forend has usual release engraved w/ 1878 patent date & nicely shaped steel tip. DIMENSIONS: bore dia. left .371, right .730. Restrictions: left .037 (Full), right .037 (Full). Min. Wall Thickness: left .034, right 0.34. DAH 2 1/4". DAC 1 5/8"+. LOP 14 1/4". Cast 0. WEIGHT: 8 lbs. 2 oz. CONDITION: exceptionally fine original. Bbls. retaining over 95% original blue w/ a few very light scratches, some light high edge wear & a bit of thinning on sides. Action retains over 90% original case hardening color, thinning on normal wear points. Color remains strong on forend latch, but is faded on tip. Most bright blue remains on hinge pin & action screws. Floorplate screws appear to be unturned. Rear screw somewhat out of time. Stocks retain over 90% original finish w/ some light marks & scratches. A hint of wear is evident on rear end of forend, checkering lightly worn & dark. Hard rubber of grip cap has browned. Vacant silver oval on toeline is tarnished. Blue on skeleton buttplate shows considerable loss due to flaking; approx. 20% remains. Bores are bright & shiny, action is tight. A lovely old Parker w/ good dimensions in a remarkable state of preservation. (21-280/MGM). MODERN. $4,500-6,000.
