STYLE FORAGE CAP. Tall Confederate forage caps have been known among collectors as “Stonewall Jackson” style due to Jackson’ famous photo of him wearing same tall style. 4” high in front, 8” central seam in back. Made with cadet gray wool broadcloth, one strand bullion trim & quatrefoil (lieutenant rank), tarred linen 1.5” sweatband, tarred linen sewn binding on visor edge, tarred linen chin strap attached with two 15mm flat brass side buttons. Crown is lightly quilted and lined in lightweight cotton single ply fabric. Part of Steve Mullinax collection for many years. He purchased it at Virginia Civil War show from a gentleman who brought it in not knowing who in his lineage as to who would have worn it. UNNATACHED ACCESSORIES: copy of 2014 consulting report by Will Gorges as to value and authenticity. Custom display case with stand, custom “pillow” that’s fits interior of cap. CONDITION: Cap appears original and authentic in every regard, no noted restoration or new stitching. Wool body has minor moth damage as seen in the few scattered small holes.
