NAVY PERCUSSION REVOLVER. Cal. 36. S# 93141. Bbl. 7.5" standard configuration octagonal bbl., 1-line Hartford address & Ormsby Navy battle scene rolled cyl., blued & case colored, silver plated trigger guard & backstrap, & varnished walnut grips. Navy revolvers were among the most popular Civil War side arms used both North & South. Many 1860 & early 1861 manufactured Colts were shipped South as this was the most popular revolver among Confederate officers. Based on S#, this survivor was made in 1860 & there are many examples noted in this serial range identified to Civil War officers. Accompanied by well fit British military holster. This is a very nice original & well-preserved Hartford Navy that serial number possibly could be found in Colt records. CONDITION: overall very good. All matching S# visible externally, not disassembled, appears all original, well fit, & complete. Markings all crisp & discernible, rolled cyl. scene is all discernible. Cyl. also retains all 6 safety pins. Iron overall has spotted gray/brown patina w/ areas of staining & pin prick pitting, sm. areas of original finish in protected areas. Backstrap & trigger guard retain about 60% original silver plate. Grips retain about 80% original factory varnish w/ edge wear & scattered scuffs & scratches. Mechanically crisp w/ bright shiny rifled bore. Holster is sound & solid, complete including plug, finial latch, & belt loop, resewn where stitches broken. Leather belt loop which originally was sewn has metal brads attached for reinforcement at later date. The leather finial latch tab is a replacement also attached w/ metal brads. (01-19097/JS).
