HAVILAND OF THE AIR CORPS SERVING IN THE CBI THEATER. This lot contains three albums of photographs showing Haviland, family, and friends before WWII. There are two large photo albums showing every aspect of Haviland's service with the China-Burma-India troops. Photographs show many planes and personnel attached to the Air Corps. Many photographs also show Indian buildings, landscapes, and indigenous people. These photo albums supply a treasure trove of information for students of the CBI Campaign. Also included is a large scrapbook containing many newspaper clippings collected by Haviland. There is also a large book titled "530th FIGHTER SQUADRON (YELLOW SCORPIONS) 1942-?". An interesting silver-plated ID bracelet is included that reads "HARRY HAVILAND 32389512 CHINA-BURMA-INDIA." Lastly, the group contains two of Corporal Haviland's dog tags, a leather nametag, his aircrew wings, an overseas cap, a hand-forged nail and tweezers, and a slide rule to aid in calculations. CONDITION: The photo albums generally show some wear, but the photographs remain crisp and clear. The scrapbook and fighter squadron book have tattered edges to many pages. Other items generally show light overall wear. (02-23659/BF). $400-700.
